@sharonkayl, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
To assist you better, do you see this error on the HP Smart app?
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.
Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue
Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Hello, I uninstalled and reinstalled my printer. I also made a standalone copy and it copies ok, I just cannot get it to print any documents o n my computer. I have Windows 10 64 bit on a Lenovo desktop computer. I also reinstalled the printer using HP Smart. It says that everything looks ok, but when I try to print any pdf or word documents, I get message saying your printer has experienced unexpected configuration problem. 0x80004005. I read somewhere that Windows 10 printer drivers are corrupted. Will I need to contact Lenovo tech support, because the printer itself works fine, but I cannot print anything from my computer.

If the printer is able to make copies, it means the printer hardware is working fine.
If the printer is connected wirelessly, install the printer using the TCP/IP port:
Check for any pending Windows updates first.
- On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Remove the existing printer entry > click on Add a printer(at the top)
- Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
- Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
- Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
- Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
- Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
Try printing.
Let me know how it goes.
