Microsoft Windows 11

My HP MFP477fnw has started to go into a cleaning cycle after I print a postcard.  After the cleaning cycle it will ask me to accept the paper size.  Then it prints the same card  again.  If I don't cancel the print job and turn off the printer, it will keep printing and cleaning forever.  How to shut off the cleaning cycle?  This has come up suddenly after working fine for years.  I have tried deleting and reinstalling the printer with the same results.  Any help would be appreciated.

This type of error situation is common when the pickup rollers for the tray are getting worn. What happens is that the paper feed is delayed and it caused the printer to think that the paper size that it fed does not match the requested or loaded paper size so it cleans the transfer belt to get rid of what it believes is excess toner. Check the rollers, the should be a consistent color and have little finger print like grooves on them. The are located paper tray cavity near the back on the top of the cavity. You can try feeding the cards from a different tray to see if the behaviour is the same.
