Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Photosmart 3210 all in one that no longer prints from my computer, files remain stuck in queue. I have tried disconnecting + reconnecting. I have tried clearing files in the spool and then tried to print again. As this printer is no longer supported by HP I cannot uninstall and re-install. (Also I seem to have lost the original Microsoft installation CD, though I have the MAC version which is no use on my Windows 10 set up.

Hi @TimTimTim1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP Photosmart 3210 isn't printing from your computer and you've already attempted some troubleshooting steps, here are a few more things you can try.

Restart Print Spooler Service: Sometimes the print spooler service gets stuck, causing print jobs to remain in queue. You can try restarting this service by following these steps:

  • Press Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.
  • Type services.msc and press Enter to open the Services window.
  • Scroll down and find the Print Spooler service.
  • Right-click on it and select Restart.

Update Printer Drivers (Alternative Method): Although HP no longer supports your printer, you might be able to find generic drivers or drivers from third-party sources that could work. Try searching online for compatible drivers for your printer model and install them manually.

Use Compatibility Mode for Driver Installation: If you have the driver installation files but they're not compatible with Windows 10, you can try installing them using compatibility mode:

  • Right-click on the driver installation file and select Properties.
  • Go to the Compatibility tab.
  • Check the box that says Run this program in compatibility mode for.
  • Select an older version of Windows (like Windows 7 or Windows XP) from the dropdown menu.
  • Click Apply and then OK.
  • Run the installer again and follow the on-screen instructions.

Printer Troubleshooter: Windows 10 includes a built-in troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix printing problems. Here's how to use it:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Click on Printer and then click Run the troubleshooter. Follow the on-screen instructions to see if any issues are detected and resolved.

Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows 10 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, installing the latest updates can resolve compatibility issues with printers and other hardware.

Reset Printer Settings: You can try resetting your printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve communication issues between the printer and the computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
