Hi @6198Fast,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP OfficeJet 4655 that keeps bugging you with that FAX screen!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Switch from FAX to PRINTER mode
On the printer’s touchscreen, look for a "Home" or "Back" button.
Tap it repeatedly until you return to the main menu (should show options like Copy, Print, Scan—not Fax).
If you're stuck in a FAX loop, unplug the printer, wait 60 seconds, and plug it back in. It may reset to default home screen.
2. Remove FAX printer from Windows
Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
You’ll see two icons:
One for HP OfficeJet 4655
One for HP OfficeJet 4655 FAX
Right-click the FAX version → click Remove deviceThis ensures that Windows doesn’t accidentally send jobs to the FAX queue.
3. Reinstall the Printer (Clean Setup)
Sometimes a fresh install works wonders:
Uninstall the printer:
Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Select your HP printer > Remove
Download & Install the full software suite:
Go to HP Support – 4655 Drivers
Download the HP Easy Start or Full Software and Drivers
Run the installer and choose the "Wireless" or "USB" setup (whichever you use)
Don’t check the Fax options if it asks
4. Optional: Disable Fax from Printer Settings
From the printer's control panel:
Go to Settings > Fax Settings > Turn Off Auto Answer
Or set Fax to manual, so it doesn't take over the machine
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
