HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 Printer/HP 902XL Cyan, Magenta, Yellow
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I accidentally installed my 902XL colors in my HP 7500 printer (it actually takes 920 cartridges) last March.  Now I go to install in my HP 6968 and it just keeps saying "Remove and reinstall cartridge, it is not properly installed".

I have tried shutting down with them in, with them out.

I have tried turning off for minutes, hours, and days to reset.

I tried taking back to Office Depot and they said too bad it was past their return time.

I tried to ask HP but there isn't a place to ask if they would replace.

They are full never used cartridges but don't work.

Any other ideas?

@sd2131,

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?
  • Have you tried using a different set of cartridges?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.
