Hi @LL337,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be an issue with the ink cartridges or the printer settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your HP 4155e printer:

Step 1: Verify the Ink Cartridges

  1. Check Cartridge Compatibility:
    • Ensure the ink cartridges you installed are compatible with your HP 4155e printer. Refer to the printer manual or the HP website for the correct cartridge numbers.

Step 2: Perform a Printer Reset

  1. Turn Off the Printer:
    • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug the Printer:
    • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 Seconds:
    • Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the Printer Back In:
    • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
  5. Turn On the Printer:
    • Turn the printer back on and try printing again.

Step 3: Align the Ink Cartridges

  1. Use the Printer’s Control Panel:
    • Navigate to the maintenance or setup menu on the printer's control panel.
  2. Select Cartridge Alignment:
    • Choose the option to align the ink cartridges. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.
  3. Print an Alignment Page:
    • Print an alignment page to ensure the cartridges are correctly aligned.

Step 4: Clean the Printhead

  1. Access Printer Software:
    • Open the HP printer software on your computer. This is usually accessible from the start menu or desktop shortcut.
  2. Run Printhead Cleaning:
    • Find the option for printhead cleaning or maintenance. Run the cleaning cycle to remove any clogs or ink buildup on the printhead.
  3. Print a Test Page:
    • After cleaning, print a test page to see if the issue is resolved.

Step 5: Check Printer Settings

  1. Check Color Settings:
    • Ensure the printer is set to print in color. Sometimes the printer settings might be set to grayscale or black and white.
  2. Print Quality Settings:
    • Verify that the print quality settings are not set to draft mode, which can result in lighter prints.

Step 6: Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

Step 7: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Hard Reset Procedure:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Remove the ink cartridges.
    • Wait for about 10 minutes.
    • Reinstall the ink cartridges and plug the printer back in.
    • Turn the printer back on and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
