Hi @Rae401,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you're encountering a significant issue with your HP ENVY 5660 printer, manifesting as a blue screen error with different codes each time you attempt to turn it on. Such errors can indicate a variety of problems ranging from software issues to hardware malfunctions.
Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove the USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
Update the printer firmware
Update Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause such issues. Similarly, if you're able to access the printer settings, check for any pending firmware updates.
- Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
- Click here to know different methods of updating the printer firmware.
Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer series
Step 1. Launch the HP Smart app from your computer and create an account or sign into your account.
Step 2. On the Home screen of this app, select the printer or image that you want to update its firmware. If the printer is not here, you can click on Add Printer and the app will search for the printer.
Step 3. Go to the Advanced tab and select Advanced Settings or Printer Home Page (EWS).
Step 4. Select Tools or Web Services, and then click on Printer Updates or Product Update and click on Check Now. Then it will automatically download and install any available firmware updates for the printer.
- Check Hardware Connections: Ensure that all cables and connections to your printer are secure. Loose connections can sometimes cause errors.
- Reset the Printer: Many printers have a reset option either in the settings menu or through a physical button combination. Refer to your printer's manual to find out how to perform a reset.
- Printer Self-Diagnosis: Some printers have a self-diagnostic feature that can help identify and potentially resolve issues. Again, refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to run a self-diagnosis. HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer series user manual
