How do we get in contact with a human? My problem is nothing that can be solved with a stupid virtual assistant or online checker.

HP Community cannot make use of Private Information -

Thieves love to grab up private bits that are posted for all to see

At this writing, all our Experts and Agents in the Community are people.

It is true that one or more of these might use AI to structure answers -- this is certainly not the case for all of us.

Out of Warranty?  What to do...

For those of us who are "Out of Warranty", or asking for help with an item not covered by the Warranty, submitting a case to HP Support is not an option.

Open your device HP Product Home > Select Category Troubleshooting to find help for common issues.

HP Support does not generally provide free service for out-of-warranty devices.

Our HP Community is not HP Support; we do offer online help free of charge.

Reminder – New Post – Post New Question

When you submit your question to the Community,

Increase your chances of receiving an answer ---

For example,

  • Provide the model of the device and the Operating System / version
  • Do NOT include the serial number -- What?  We cannot make use of the information and you should never post private information in a public forum.
  • As best you can, describe the issue for which you are seeking our help.
  • Tell us what you have tried to fix the problem.

What else?

Should you still need to speak with someone rather than work within what we can offer in the Community, there are a couple of options.

1)  In-Warranty device, hardware related, covered component or issue

HP Support – Hardware / Technical Support for Devices in Warranty

Registered Devices in Warranty:

Contact HP Support

Start here:

 HP Support virtual repair center

Printers

Contact HP Support – Printer Support

HP Support  HP World-Wide Support

In-Warranty Products – Case submission for Warranty Repair

Select your region and follow the prompts

HP Support - Regional Links

 USA / Canada >   HP® Customer Support - USA

 UK >  HP® Customer Support - UK

 ---------------------------------------------------

Reminders – READ

Online Case Submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.

Some (Most) regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online.

Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.

HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.

If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

Important

Never post private information in the HP Community!

Thieves are waiting - do not just hand out your privacy to their keeping.

HP Support does not free-post phone numbers for HP Support on the Internet.

Your computer is not full of bugs and you do not need to pay a fee for driver support.

Pay attention to where you are going.

Do not wander around on the Internet looking for help –

When looking for help, start only at legitimate web sites for your product

For example,

HP products, start here in the HP Community or at the HP Website

Microsoft / Windows - start at Microsoft Web Site

Printer Software - 123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

Help with Instant Ink - HP Instant Ink Support - Website

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

2)  Out-of-Warranty, region dependent, subscription or one-time use:

Out-of-Warranty devices might be eligible for an "after warranty" contract.

Be aware that these types of contracts are not the same as the original HP Warranty, nor are they like an HP Care Pack contract.

OPTIONAL >> Where available - Purchase an HP out-of-Warranty service contact

--------------------- << Important >> -----------------------------

Pay attention to where you go on the Internet.

Beware of look-alike and similarly named websites that are not HP.

The screen on my printer doesn’t turn on. The printer turns on, makes some noise, and then does nothing because I can’t do anything without the screen working. I need someone to talk to about what parts need to be replaced to fix it.

I Need HP support on an out of warranty printer. But I will pay for said support!

Be careful of where you land.

One letter or dot or space out of place will take you "somewhere on the Internet".

Finding printer parts is explained below.

Original Content

The Community does not offer phone or chat support.

Should you wish to provide the printer model and anything else helpful, someone might answer here.

Better, consider posting a new message with an appropriate subject line and the necessary details.

Can't stand it?

Cannot / will not post a full question?

Use your printer's exact model number or product name to check PartSurfer for parts that HP sells.

In some cases, while HP does not carry the part, the list might include part numbers.

If HP does not sell the part(s) you need, check online at a printer parts store.

Be careful -- don't fall victim to someone who wants into your compute.

PartSurfer might be able to tell you exactly which parts came installed with your device.

  • For the most precise results, use your Serial Number for your search
  • Reminder:  Do NOT post private information (including serial number) in the Community

Open PartSurfer

  • Select your Country
  • Enter the device Product Number , Serial Number, or Part Number in the Quick Search box
  • HINT: To see a system-specific list, replace the Product Number with your device Serial Number
  • Items accompanied by a tiny box in the Add-to-Cart column are available for purchase

Parts marked as "n/a" (or are missing from the list) are not available from HP.

NOTE

HP does not generally carry replacement batteries.

This is normal.

CHECK for the part number:  HP Parts Store

Part numbers marked as available for purchase can be purchased from HP

OR

When HP does not provide the part for retail purchase,

Use your search engine to find the part number - purchase a replacement battery at your favorite online store.

So that’s my point. What I need is chat or phone support. WHERE DO I GET THAT?!

I am sorry I cannot make clearer.

Perhaps another Expert can help.

I shall withdraw with grace having nothing more to offer.
