Hello all!
I've recently moved to United States from Spain. Since I knew I would be using a lot of scanning and printing on the
firsts months to solve all the paperwork I brought my HP ENVY 6230 with me.
After few weeks I run out of ink, and now the ink I buy here is not working with my machine. If I try to install HP 64 cartridges, a message on the screen appears saying that those cartridges are incompatible.
After a lot of research I found out that if I manage to re-regionalize my machine I will be able to use US cartridges with it.
Please can you help me with that? I'm pretty desperate at this point.
Product number: K7G25B
Thanks a lot
Lluis

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Yes, we'll have to do a region reset.
To do a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:
1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region to which you want to reset it to.
Please do let us know.

Hello Betty
First of all thanks for your help on this, I've been looking for a solution for a long time! hopefully this will work 🙂
Regarding the required conditions:
1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
I don't have this cable right now. Please can you provide a link with the specific cable needed so I can buy it?
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
Right now I have two apps from HP installed on my window 10 machine: HP smart and HP Support Assistant. is that it?
do I need any more drivers to perform the reset? if that is the case, can you please send me a link to the ones I'm missing
so we can proceed with the reset?
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region to which you want to reset it to.
Right now I have black and tri-color cartridges 64-303 from Spain. These were the ones that were sent to me (in Spain) when I signed up for instant ink. Please note that I unsubscribed from the service since they weren't able to ship new ones to US. If I install them the printer displays a message saying that these cartridges can not be used due to my subscription being cancelled.
check the picture:
I also bought a black ink 64 cartridge here in US to see if it would work on my printer. If I install it, the printer displays a message saying that the cartridges are incompatible, most probably due to the region lock. check it out:
Considering my current cartridge situation, what would be your advise? do I need to buy new ones or can I use the current
ones to proceed with the region reset process?
Please let me know so we can proceed with this
Thanks you very much
Lluis

You can call our shopping team regrading the USB cable.
HP Smart is good enough and cartridge number 64 is good too. Please buy the color as well.

Great 🙂
1. Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.
2. Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.
3. Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.
4. If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.
Use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature to paste the values here or take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in private.
