I pulled the two white plastic ribbons out at one end by the printhead, thinking it was some some tape from a new cartridge caught up in the carriage. I have slotted the contact ends of the two ribbons back into the slots. Error code 0XC4EB980A is shown on the printer screen. I have tried unplugging the power to reset it. The ribbons are in front of the long thin straight ribbon that goes all the way across. Is that correct? The white ribbons are not wrapped around the black part like they were before. Is that the problem? Maybe they are the wrong way round? Is it possible to clear the error? thank you. Phil.

Hi, Those 2 white ribbons which run all the way across are flexi cables and they provide information from the printer to the cartridges, if this are removed then the printer wont work or will give an error message. and if the cables are removed its not possible to put it back it has to be done at the repair center.

Thank you. They are white flexi cables but they do not run right across. They are on the moving cartridge holder. I'd like help with suggestions I could try, other than going to a repair centre which may cost more than a new printer. I have put the cables back into their terminals, so I wondered whether it could be a programming issue, When the cables came out, there was one error code, and then when I re-attached the cables, the code was different. Thanks everyone, Phil.

Hi Phil, I'm attaching 2 pics here the Flexi cable A provides information as to what to print when it gets a command from the printer. Flexi Cable B is the one which is in the cartridge carriage, this helps the printer detect the cartridges, this cable is aligned in such a way that the contacts on the cartridge and on the carriage connect to each other. in case the cable is moved or if its not sitting correctly then it means its not connecting to the right contacts and they will give error. It is aligned precisely, so if its not properly put back then it will give you an error msg and wont read the cartridges.
