Product: HP Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M776dn

Good morning
I have an HP Color Laserjet M776 (T3U55A) printer.
with error 99.09.66 which requires changing the hard drive.
I changed the hard drive with another 500Gb from the same brand Toshiba.
the printer accepts to copy all the firmware files from the usb key to the hard drive, but upon installation it gives me the error 98.00.02.
I tried both firmware versions.
Thanks a lot.

If you are installing a computer HDD you need to from the preboot menu run a format disk erase/unlock and then load firmware from USB thumbdrive.

You also need to ensure that the drive you are using is the exact same model or at least support SED. (self encrypting drive) protocol.

the problem is that after performing the erase/unlock, the printer remains STUCK on the HP screen (1/8...)

To confirm

 

1. You installed a valid self encrypting hard drive? Many laptop drives are not SED and will not work properly.

2. After the erase/unlock and format you did download the firmware to the drive?

 

The most affordable part option from HP is L41606-011. You will find other part numbers but they often contain mounts and other parts you do not need.
