Deskjet 3050
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have been printing happily and regularly until this week and I now just get 'Incompatible Black Cartridge' error only my HP Deskjet 3050. The cartridge that was in there was an official HP 301 and still had plenty of ink left.

I tried removing, cleaning and replacing but that didn't work. I have also just purchased a brand new cartridge to see if that was the issue but that hasn't worked either.

I have tried to see if I could fix it or override it in the HP Printer utility but that isn't possible either.

I would like to help

Please try these steps

- Turn on the printer.

- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

- Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.

- Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

- Wait at least 60 seconds.

- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.

- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

- Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

- If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

Also ensure the Printer has the latest Firmware https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Thank you

Thanks @krazyToad,

I have tried the steps at least 5 times now but still to no avail with either the older cartridge or the brand new one.

Also, there seems to be no firmware available as I am met with the error "We were unable to find drivers for your product" when using serial no. or model and the same when manually selecting OS; the latest version is MacOS 10.8 that doesn't work as I am running on 10.15.

Are there any alternative solutions I may be able to try?
