I have been using e-ink since around February 2017 but now I am getting an incompatible ink message and am unable to print some very important documents and am now going to have to find a friend to print this for me - this is not a good advert for the e-print system is it. I have paid my monthly subscription but am unable to use the printer, I have followed the instructions in the "HP Printers - Incompatible Ink Cartridge" help document on the website but the problem remains - can this be resolved or do I need to go and buy a new printer?

Hey there! @JammyJay, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you are getting "Incompatible ink cartridge" error on your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Does the issue persist when you put the old ink cartridge back to your printer?
Clean the cartridge contacts and check if it helps.
Please try few steps recommended below.
First, clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges.
Reset the printer
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Also, update the printer firmware and check if it helps.
