HP 4515

I followed all the steps on HP website to solve the issue. The issue is still there. I bought a new 650 HP cartridge to replace an empty black one. It worked fine in the beginning but now have the error incompatible cartridge and am unable to print anything since. What to do?

Hey there! @ajurjens, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand when you try to install a new ink cartridge on your printer you are getting an error incompatible ink cartridge.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you put the old ink cartridge back to your printer?

Did you relocate to a different country?

Replace low, empty or faulty ink cartridges on your printer.

According to the specifications of your printer.

Only in Europe, Middle East & Africa, you can use HP 650 ink cartridges.

If you have moved to a different country the HP 650 ink cartridge will not work.

Also, if you have moved to a different country you have to perform a printer regionalization.

If you have not moved to a different country try the steps recommended below.

Clean the cartridge contacts

Remove, inspect, and reseat the cartridges

The cartridge might not have full electrical contact with the printer. Removing and reinstalling the cartridge might help.

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.

  2. Open the scanner lid.

  3. Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the cartridge access area of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.

  4. To release the cartridge, lift the lid on the cartridge slot, and then gently push the lid back until it stops.

  5. Pull up on the cartridge to remove it from the slot.

    1. Lift the lid

    2. Gently push the lid back

    3. Pull up on the cartridge

       CAUTION:

Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

  6. Remove any protective tape that might still be on the nozzles.

       CAUTION:

Do not try to remove the copper-colored electrical strip.

  7. Hold the cartridge at a slight upward angle with the cartridge contacts facing the rear of the printer, and then slide the cartridge into the empty slot.

  8. Close the lid on the cartridge slot to secure the cartridge into place.

       NOTE:

Insert the color cartridge in the slot on the left. Insert the black cartridge in the slot on the right.

    1. Insert the cartridge

    2. Close the lid

    3. The color cartridge is on the left, and the black cartridge is on the right

  9. Repeat the previous steps to install the other cartridge, if necessary.

  10. Close the cartridge access door.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, It is a hardware issue with your printer. It could be an issue with the ink cartridge or the printhead.

Thank you very much. The same cartridge used to work and now get the incompatible error. I have done all the steps as you said in your email and still it does not work. I am still in the same country where the same cartridge should work. Anything else I can do to make my printer work again? Thanks in advance!
