Initialization issue 61.00.02 and 61.00.00 on HP Officejet Enterprise Color Flow MFP X585

Hi all, my printer is stuck in the startup initializing mode.  After much trial and error and searching, I managed to get to another screen by opening the ink door whilst rebooting.  The error codes were 61.00.02 & 61.00.00.  I believe the codes relate to the RAM? (that's what other posts say anyway?)  I also noticed that there is an exclamation warning mark on the copy icon, which I can't copy. Furthermore, I can't print anything either.   I was wondering if (an HP service expert) could tell me what the codes actually represent and how do I fix the issue, please?

C'mon HP, it's now 8 days and my printhead is drying ???  Does it appear like HP has developed this site as smoke and mirrors rather than a legitiament tool to help?  Lift your game HP  !!!!! Still Waiting????

Hi ChrissyBoy,

The message refers to a communication problem between the formatter and the printer engine.  

Do you have an additional tray on this printer?  If so, try to remove it to see if that will allow the printer to reboot and print normally.

This is a rather severe error and usually requires the replacement of the printer engine.

Oh, and if you have not updated the firmware on this printer, if you can get it working again, try to update that, too.

Thanks for your reply Funky admin.  Yes, I might have to replace the print engine!  Do you know of any tutorials/instructions for this?  There  is a video but the subject is:

Is a "print Mechanism" the same as a print engine?"

Yes, the "Mech Kit" or Printer Mechanism is the entire printer engine.  You'll get it bare bones and need to pull the formatter, HD, JD card, ADF, and any extra trays or stands from the old printer.
