HP Smart app on computer determined the error stating "Ink Cartridge Carriage Stalled" was present. "The cartridge carriage cannot move." There is nothing jammed nor blocking it. The carriage simply does not move on its own, only manually.

Reset the printer
Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
- If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
- NOTE: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
- Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

I had already tried that method but it did not change the situation—it is not a jam, it is a stalled cartridge carrier.
While waiting for a reply in the forum I was able to speak with an HP tech support rep. Unfortunately, they informed me that HP has “discontinued” both the software and the hardware for this particular printer. As a result of this information, I had to purchase a new printer, which uses different ink than what I already have. It’s not the outcome I was expecting nor hoping for.
