I forget the wording but basically the ink cartridge would not return. It would print a line, error window came up, offering OK, Pause Printing, or Help. I'd hit OK then another line would print
Research told me it could be a paper jam but there is none. I had twenty pages to print but in an hour only four pages printed. I gave up.
Whats wrong and and how do I fix it?

Greetings @TheSickSquirrel,
Thanks for the post.
I understand that you have to press ok for the printer to print a line, you are sure of the error.
Not to worry, I will be glad to help.
Have you tried to make a copy on the printer?
May I know how is the printer connected to your computer?
Copy function of a printer is independent of the software on the computer.
If you are unable to make a copy, please do hard reset (disconnect the power cable of the printer, wait for a minute and connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and turn the printer ON.)
If the printer still does not make a copy after a hard reset. Please contact our phone support for the service or upgrade options for the printer.
If you are able to make a copy on the printer. Please uninstall the printer following the procedure mentioned below.
Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
Click on print server properties.
You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.
Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
Restart the PC.
Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
Restart the PC again.
Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
Keep me posted.

Thank you very much. I had someone check for a jam (I'm in bed, partially paralyzed) and he found three pages jammed waaay up inside. I haven't tried to use it yet but over the weekend will do it. I think the ink cartridge got caught on the jam at the end of each line. Since the top doesn't open to check for jams, I was stuck.
Im going to test it by printing your response. This way, I'll have a solution next time. I'll post an update on the weekend.

Hi @TheSickSquirrel, I am the @Chimney_83. It looks like you were interacting with @SatishGaj, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
Thanks for the reply, please do test your printer and let me know how it goes.

I printed yesterday and had issues. The printer kept grabbing three or four sheets of paper. There is no static so we were stumped. Then it said 'out of paper' when it was full. He reloaded it and it worked fine. Tomorrow I'll finish up but the printer seems to be on track.
