HP Envy 5032

I have just changed the black cartridge on my HP Envy 5032 with the provided HP product.  However, on the display panel, I now have an exclamation mark showing on the ink symbol on the printers display.  When I touch the symbol, it takes me to a screen that shows 'Estimate Cartridge Levels' full for black, but with an exclamation mark.  Functionality of the printer doesn't seem affected, but why do I have that mark?  Should both cartridges be changed together?

Hi @paulsharp

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

You need not change both the ink cartridges. Change only the depleted ink cartridge to resume printing.

  • Make sure you are using an HP ink cartridge.
  • Check if the ink cartridge is properly seated. Re-insert them.
  • Check if both the ink cartridges installed have a minimum amount of ink in it.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
