Hi @J-A-F,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When facing issues with ink cartridges not working in your HP Envy 6020 printer, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Verify that the ink cartridges are compatible with your HP Envy 6020. HP 67/305 cartridges are typically compatible with this model, but it's good to double-check. Sometimes, cartridges can be region-specific.

Inspect Cartridges: Ensure that the cartridges are not damaged and that the protective tape on the nozzles has been completely removed.

Clean Contacts: Clean the gold electrical contacts on the cartridge and the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge installs. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water. Be gentle to avoid any damage.

Reinstall Cartridges: Remove the cartridges and reinstall them to make sure they are properly seated in their respective slots. Make sure each cartridge clicks into place.

Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for about a minute, and then plug it back in. This can reset the printer’s internal memory and possibly resolve the issue.

Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, updating the printer firmware can resolve compatibility issues with cartridges. Check HP’s official website or your printer settings to see if there are available updates.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges: If the cartridges are non-HP or refilled ones, there might be compatibility issues. Consider using genuine HP cartridges if the current ones continue to fail.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
