I have reviewed the error message E0. I got out the ink jet, cleaned it, and its place. I inserted it correctly. It prints the test page, then the error message comes again.

a computer engineer tried to do the same, got same result. The ink jet is brand new, HP 67 bought from Walmart.
what else should I do?? I paid over $30 for it!!

Hi @Salvation1 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've taken some good initial steps to resolve the issue with your HP Envy 6400 printer and the HP 67 ink cartridge. Since the error persists despite cleaning and reinserting the cartridge, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP Support website specific to your printer model.

Inspect the Ink Cartridge and Printer Contacts:

  • Examine the metal contacts on both the ink cartridge and inside the printer where the cartridge is inserted. Make sure there is no debris, dust, or ink residue that could be interfering with the connection.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord. Wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn the printer on. This can sometimes reset any error messages.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the cartridge you purchased is a genuine HP cartridge. Counterfeit or remanufactured cartridges can sometimes cause compatibility issues. Since you mentioned buying from Walmart, it’s likely genuine, but double-check the packaging for authenticity labels.

Align the Printer:

  • Perform a printer alignment. This can usually be done through the printer’s control panel or the printer software on your computer. Alignment issues can sometimes cause error messages.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Use the printer’s built-in printhead cleaning function. This can be accessed through the printer’s settings menu or through the HP printer software on your computer.

Try Another Cartridge:

  • If possible, try using another HP 67 cartridge to see if the problem persists. There’s a chance the cartridge you have might be defective, even if it's new.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
