I inserted a new HP ink cartridge into my printer (have done it a million time before). I am getting a "print cartridge missing or not detected" message. I turned the printer off and on, and even shut it off overnight. Have taken the cartridge out and reinserted it at least six times; error message still prevails. How can I fix this?

Hi @jjf5520,
Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding issues with the new cartridge not being accepted or recognized by the printer. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you try the old cartridge and check if that cartridge is being accepted by the printer?
For now, try these steps:
- Please install the old cartridge and check if it is accepted by the printer.
- If it is accepted, then the new cartridge is faulty and needs to be replaced.
- Before that please try all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2B6Spdn and this should fix the issue.
- If the problem persists, then the printer’s cartridge or the printer is faulty and one of then needs to be replaced by contacting HP phone support.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. It will definitely fix the issue for you.
