Officejet Pro 6830
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Ran old 934 XL cartridge in Officejet Pro 6830 until print started skipping. Installed new HP 934 XL cartridge and now don't have any black print. Tried old cartridge that was skipping and no black print from that. Have gone through HP Support Assistant which eventually had me uninstall driver and now new driver won't install. I have done this in the past and it has worked, but now I'm left with nothing.

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

 

Do the color cartridges print fine?

Are you able to make photocopies in black?

 

If no, follow the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

 

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

The color cartridges print. I can’t print photocopies in black. I’ve gone through the not printing and other print quality issues a number of times. I’ve tried the software and driver updates, a number of times, including uninstalling and reinstalling. I’ve tried all the online suggestions numerous times. I tried calling the 800 number but because I didn’t have a verification code I was disconnected. The black print issue started when I put a new HP cartridge in the printer and then the printer wouldn’t print when the old cartridge was put back into the printer.
