Hello, I have an issue with my instant ink account. It says I am supposed to have black ink but I don't. I was printing pages this evening and the black ran out. Is there any way you can help me figure out what is going on here? I am continuing to pay a fee per month and haven't gotten a black cartridge in many, many months. I am considering canceling my membership to this program.

If the account page is showing you should have ink available to install it also would allow you to click and see the tracking # and you would be able to determine when in fact it was sent/ delivered as long as the tracking # is not too old etc.
HP Instant Ink service would be expecting you to use what they show as sent and delivered , they would be assuming you got the last shipment unless they hear otherwise hence it's up to you to monitor and track your account if your getting low on ink the account page should show latest shipments, if you don't agree with the tracking results and or the ink was lost or misplaced I would suggest calling or chatting with them and I'm sure they would be happy to send another as exception.
*** This service doesn't monitor print quility issues or hardware faults it only monitors ink levels and sends more when low assuming you have a connection***
If your printer is using a two cartridge system you can also do the following in the meantime as work around:
In the meantime I suggest removing the empty black in the printer and use just the color. two cartridge printers can work in single cartridge mode, this allows the printer to mix the color ink and also print black as a work around.
Furthermore:
If you cancel The HP Instant Ink Service any HP instant ink cartridges you have in the printer or on hand would no longer work after the final billing cycle, meaning you would need to buy retail ink cartridges in order to print. A XL set of genuine HP ink is around $80 for 2 cartridge systems and $120 for 4 cartridge systems ballpark prices for full xl set of ink which is much much smaller then HP Instant Ink Cartridges therefore would have much much less page yield available.
HP Instant ink cartridges are like twice the size of retail XL ink cartridges. The main purpose of this service is to save you money on ink it's the cheapest way to run your printer for ink assuming you are on the right printing plan to match your printing needs and trends. With HP Instant Ink you never pay for any ink cartridges/ ink usage or shipping or returns you simply pay based on the plan your enrolled in.
