Noticed the Information button light showing red and an icon in the Control Panel display flashing. Manual shows the icon but doesn't say what it is. Went onto the website to discover that it's the Instant Ink icon that's flashing but the website doesn't explain what the flashing means. Anyone know?

Thanks

Hi @Angliaspur,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the Instant Ink icon on your HP printer is flashing, it typically indicates an issue with the Instant Ink service or the printer's connection to it. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

**1. Check Instant Ink Status Online

Log In to Your HP Account:

Check Account Status:

  • Verify your account status to ensure there are no issues with your subscription, payment, or ink plan.

Check Printer Status:

  • Look for any alerts or messages related to your printer’s Instant Ink status.

**2. Verify Printer Connection

Ensure Network Connectivity:

  • Make sure your printer is properly connected to your network. Check Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections, depending on how your printer is connected.

Restart the Printer:

  • Power off your printer, wait a few seconds, and then power it back on. Sometimes, restarting can resolve connectivity issues.

Check Printer for Updates:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware updates. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the printer’s web interface.

**3. Inspect Ink Cartridge Status

Open the Printer Cover:

  • Check if the ink cartridges are properly installed and that they are not empty or low on ink.

Replace Cartridges if Needed:

  • If the cartridges are low or empty, replace them with new ones.

**4. Reset Instant Ink Connection

Reconfigure Instant Ink Setup:

  • Sometimes, reconfiguring the Instant Ink setup can resolve issues. You can do this through the HP Smart app or the printer’s web interface.

Remove and Re-add Printer:

  • In the HP Smart app, remove your printer and then re-add it. This process can refresh the connection with the Instant Ink service.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
