HP Envy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am frequently abroad and so my printer is turned off for protracted periods. I keep getting email from hp saying that my printer is not connected (I would be very worried if it was!) and that I should connect my printer to the internet - obviously that is not possible. Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off this feature? I've looked at various preferences in my account but can't find a way to do this - the emails are very irritating!

Hi @Adrian774,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I was reviewing the documentation i have on this printer, and was unable to find out exactly how much power these printers use. The HP Envy Printer are marked with the ENERGY STAR logo and qualified

to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR specifications for imaging equipment.

Hi @Adrian774,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums with your inquiry.

I understand that you have an HP Envy Printer enrolled in the HP Instant Ink service and you are wondering if there is a way to disable the 'not connected to the internet' email notifications. I would like to help.

Actually there is no way to disable or turn off those messages. They get automatically triggered when the HP Instant Ink Server tries to check in with the printer to update usage, but is not able to communicate because the printer is powered off.

You could, and HP suggests that you, leave the printer powered on, and allow the printer to go into sleep mode. The printer will use very little energy and the Instant Ink server would still be able to communicate with the printer. That would be the only way that the email notifications would be able to be stopped.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Just one further question then, how much power does the printer consume on standby? Obviously I don't want to use any more power than necessary when away for a couple of months. Otherwise it sounds like a good solution!
