I called a phone number that I thought was HP customer support to get help with setting up my new printer. I gave the representative access to my laptop through logmein rescue. After logging in the representative told me that he could not help with my printer until I upgraded my laptop and that it would cost $100. I told him that I was not interested and hung up the phone. My laptop has been acting strange ever since and I can't get logmein rescue to uninstall. The number that I called was [edit]before I was transferred to a different number. Is this a legitimate HP customer service number? I am worried that my laptop may have been damaged or have a virus because of the representative claiming to be from HP.

Hi, @Brittany236

You did not call a legitimate HP customer service number for the USA or Canada.

We are no longer permitted to directly post the toll free numbers for HP customer support due to occasional scammers posting non-HP phone numbers.

However, below is the link to a search for the HP toll free number, and the first number in large type at the top of the page is a legitimate HP customer service phone number.

Hi

As Paul says, also we are not permitted to post NON-toll free numbers either in the UK.
