I've been unable to get pages to print. The printer goes through the process correctly, but the paper comes out untouched or with only a tiny bit of ink on it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software to no avail. I also ran the Print and Scan Doctor, both cleaning and aligning the print cartridges, but it couldn't find a problem. Both it and the Solution Center say I have 1/4 to 1/2 left of both my black and color ink. Is this generally accurate? Could the cartridges have become clogged for some reason? I know the easiest solution would be to buy new cartridges and see if that takes care of the problem, but ink is very expensive, and there's no guarantee it would even fix the problem. If it didn't, the cost of the ink would be better used to purchase a new printer. Has anyone had this problem, and was new ink the solution? Any help and advice are appreciated. Thank you.

Hey there! @dustnik3, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand when you print from your printer the printer is printing blank pages.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?
Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?
Have you tried printing from a different application does the issue persist?
Have you tried printing using a different device does the issue persist?
Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.
Replace low, empty or faulty ink cartridges on your printer
Please try few steps recommended below.
Print directly to the printer
Change the printer spooler option in printer properties to print directly to the printer.
-
Search Windows for devices and click Devices and Printers in the list of results.
-
In the list of installed programs, right-click your HP printer name, and then click Printer properties.
You might need to click the name of your printer.
-
Select the Advanced tab.
-
Select the option Print directly to the printer.
-
Click Apply, and then click OK.
An extra page should no longer print from the printer
Restart Print Spooler service:
To restart the Print Spooler service
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
1. Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type administrative tools, and then click Administrative Tools.
2. Double-click Services. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Right-click the Print Spooler service, and then click Properties.
4. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected.
5. If the service is not already running, under Service status, click Start, and then click OK.
If the issue still persists uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software. (Windows Only)
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Thank you for responding. I changed the print properties to print directly to the printer as you suggested (automatic was already selected). It didn't make any difference. I tried making a copy, but it came back blank. What can be causing this? As far as I know, I haven't made any changes to the computer or printer that could affect the printing. It seems somewhat unlikely that both the black and color ink would run out at the same time, especially as I'm supposed to have quite a bit left. Any other ideas?

@dustnik3, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned the issue persists while making a copy from your printer.
