Microsoft Windows 11

HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 on wireless network  - send print jobs that go to the print queue, but then quickly disappear without going out to the printer.  Tried both Word files and pdfs.  Did all of the usual - unplug and restart everything (computer, printer, router), uninstall and reinstall printer and HP "Smart" software, stop and restart spooling service.

Can connect and scan but won't print.  "Scan Doctor" won't even print an internal test page

Just updated to Windows 11 - don't know if that is a coincidence but it seems too coincidental to be a coincidence.  Had worked fine for months prior.

What else can I try?

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that your printer jobs disappears from the print queue, I am glad to assist you.

Did you uninstall the printer driver from the root level before installing the new driver?

If not, follow these steps to fix the issue:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install the HP Smart app
