HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw

Greetings,

I hope I posted in correct space.

I'm looking for ideas, suggestions, or solutions to help with my issue.

A couple of years ago I bought what I thought (hoped?) would be my last printer because of my health and age. After researching and asking questions, I selected the HP Color LaserJet Pro M478f-9FP (Pro MFP M479FDW).

It has been a great printer. I am still using the free Black toner cartridge included in box. I do not print much.

A few months ago, I noticed the LED Configuration screen is fading. I turned off the printer. Days later, I turned it back on and all was fine. It has now faded again. What is causing this? What can I do to replace/repair?

I know my printer’s manufacturer’s warranty has expired.

I just replaced the color cartridges (only one was below 14% but was advised to replace all color cartridges at same time. The two other cartridges were 18% and 21%).

My “technology” knowledge base is not as vast as it once was in younger healthier years, but I cannot imagine this is a normal occurrence. Most LED screen faults experience infancy failure.

Any assistance is appreciated.

It happens, the LCD fails on that printer model, you will need to get a replacement soon p/n W1A78-67903 it's easy to remove, but the grounding cable is a little short.

Thank you for the reply.

Two follow-up questions, then I will "accept as solution".

1) Please expand on the grounding cable is a little short. Are there any tricks to overcome this? Any install hacks?

2) Suggested best retailers to purchase the new part?

1. There are 2 ends on grounding cable, one end is screwed on the screen and 2nd one is screwed the printer metal chassis. The correct way is to unscrew the end of the cable that is on the chassis, but this takes more disassembling to reach that end.

To overcome that you can unscrew the grounding cable at the screen side, but it a tricky because it's short and you don't have nice angle approach to do that.

2. parts.hp.com but you can look it up cheaper on eBay

Thank you for your help and suggestions. I'm 100% Disabled and my hands are always cramping, so your install suggestion is  helpful. Will also look on eBay. I would not have thought to look there. Presumbaly they are offering New, Unsold, parts.
