LJ Pro M451dn Printer continues to show a paper "Jam in Tray 1". Tray 1 is the Manual feed and is closed. Sometimes the paper is 1" or 2" out of Tray 2. I have replaced the pick-up rollers and pads.

I have run into this issue with printers using the same engine. First off I assume you have checked the duplex tray for any paper there. Remove the tray and drop the duplex tray down (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCaZCZ9oFbI)The failure I have found common is the optical sensor in the paper path is bad. It is possible to replace that sensor if you can find a like replacement. (the are used in many different HP printers, you might be able to find a donor. We harvest them from failed printers just for cases like that.) I have to check my archives to see if I have a photo of the sensor location. The sensor is located in the tray cavity, so if you remove the toner cartridges and the paper tray and then drop down the duplex tray, then turn the printer on one side. The sensor is located in the middle of the body of the printer.
