This printer will print wirelessly with my wifes laptop and with my phone, however, it will not print with my new Lenovo laptop or with my Dell desktop. It says the printer is off line, which it is not. If it were offline, would my wife's laptop make it print?  Would my phone? To make it more bizarre, I can scan a document from the printer to my laptop wirlessly with HP capture software. So obviously in that case it sees that the printer is on and connected to wifi. So my question is, why does the printer show up offline on my desktop and laptop, when it is on and online.  The status window on the HP shows that is connected to wifi properly.

Hi @Geoliebert,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I understand that the status of the printer stays offline

Don't worry, I'll be glad to help to resolve the issue.

please follow the troubleshooting steps mention below.

  1. Turn the printer off and on, and then make sure it is in a ready state.

  2. Search Windows for devices, and then click Devices and Printers in the list of results.

  3. Find the icon for the printer you originally installed.

    • If a color or grey icon displays with a green checkmark, continue to the next step.

    • If a color or a grey icon displays without a green checkmark, right-click the icon, select Set as Default Printer, and then continue to the next step.

    • If one color and one grey icon displays for your printer, right-click the color icon, select Set as Default Printer, and then continue to the next step.

  4. Right-click the icon for the default printer, and then select See what's printing.

    The print queue window opens.

  5. Click Printer. If a checkmark displays next to Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline, click each item to remove the checkmark.
