@Bill6071, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your HP LaserJet Pro M15w printer. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem:
Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cable from both the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Check the Toner Cartridge
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Carefully remove the toner cartridge.
- Inspect for:
- Excess toner leakage.
- Damaged drum or wiper blade.
- Toner cartridge improperly installed.
- Gently shake the cartridge side to side (if it's not leaking) and reinstall it.⚠️ If the toner is a third-party or refilled cartridge, try replacing it with a genuine HP 48A (CF248A) toner cartridge.
Print a Self-Test Page (no PC involved)
- Turn the printer off.
- Press and hold the Resume/Cancel button.
- While holding it, turn the printer on.
- Continue holding the button until the Attention light blinks once, then release it.The printer should print a configuration/self-test page.➡️ Check if the test page is also fully black. If yes, the issue is definitely hardware-related (toner or internal printer component).
Driver or Software Conflict Check (if test page was fine)
If the self-test page is not black, but only documents from your PC are black:
- Reinstall the driver:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your printer > Remove Device.
- Download the latest driver for Windows 11 from HP's support site.
- Try printing from a different program (e.g., Notepad vs. Word).
Firmware Update
Sometimes a firmware issue can cause abnormal print behavior.
- Visit the HP M15w support page.
- Download and install the latest firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
