I have a printer that recently started giving a rear paper jam error. The paper prints fine, but right as it is maybe 1cm from dropping into the output tray, the rollers stop and I hear clicking, then the printer throws the error. Sometimes I can just tap the paper, and it drops into the output tray. The rollers dont stay on long enough to finish that last little bit. Does anyone know why this is happening, and how I can fix it?

One thing to check is to make sure that the paper size set on the printer matches the actually loaded paper. On the printer side if it is stopping that close to exit, it would suggest that the sensor that detects when the paper has left the fuser is not functioning properly and the printer is stopping because it thinks it Is jammed. Open the back door and check carefully for any paper debris that might be causing issues. The design of this series makes it difficult to see many of the sensors without disassembly.

Thanks for the info. checked, and the paper size is correct, and I checked everywhere I could for any paper pieces, and it looks all clear to me. I did several test pages, and 8 printed fine, and the next one jammed with the paper only 1/2 way into the output bin, so I guess it isn't always right before the paper drops into the output tray. I will give a repair tech a call and have them check things out. Thanks again!
