HP LaserJet Enterprise M507dn
Microsoft Windows 11

There is an exclamation point shown on the printer's display showing that paper was empty in tray 2.  Tray 2 is completely filled with paper.  I could not make the exclamation mark go away, so I powered off the printer using the power button.  I waited a couple minutes then powered the printer back on.  It ran through initialize and hardware check phases then got back to the main home screen.  The exclamation mark showing empty paper is gone.  However, now the printer prints absolutely no output.  I attempted Windows 11 print a test page, and I see output appear on the home screen as an icon of a sheet of paper.  the sheet of paper goes away, but the printer will not print.

This printer is still covered under warranty and fairly new:  Months remaining: 5, Days remaining: 3

Any suggestions before I drop this printer off at my local Micro Center for warranty service?

I called HP technical support to discover the most likely cause for this issue is a Windows 11 update.  I had never experienced this issue before.  The problem is that the Post Script driver I have installed defaults to automatically select the tray.  My intention was to allow the printer to choose the tray that has paper.  I have two trays both containing the same paper.  The issue is the printer will automatically cancel all jobs when the setting it to automatically select the paper source.  It will work when I manually select either tray 1, tray 2 or tray 3.

An HP driver update may fix this issue.

I attempted to have the printer self-print its current settings using the menu option on its control panel.  The same behavior repeats where a sheet of paper appear on its screen briefly then goes away.  No output comes out of the printer.

I attempted to print again to see the same issue.  After the paper icon appears then goes away, I see text from the printer stating, "Clearing settings..."  I took a look at the Job logs from the display panel.  It appears that all print jobs are being canceled by the printer, but there is no indication of why this is happening.  selecting an individual entry from Job logs then pressing OK does not share more insight as to why the printer is canceling all printed jobs.

Okay -- the printer prints from Tray 3 with no issues.  Tray 2 is the problem.

I did try removing Tray 2 completely then re-inserting it.  The printer displays Lifting paper but will not print from Tray 2.

Okay -- I just learned something new.

Micro Center, although it is an HP authorized service center, does not handle printer service at all.

Looks like it's time for HP on-site service!
