HP LaserJet M209dwe Printer

Hi, I would like to know if anyone knows why my LaserJet M209dwe printer has a white light flashing and no longer connects to wifi. I have tried everything suggested, turn everything off: laptop, router, printer, power on, etc reset router, etc etc I don't know what else to do. I even bought a usb-C cable to try to get it on my macbook pro and nothing. Any suggestions? The worst thing is that I just got new toner and I don't know what to do with it?

Hi @mlcucu

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already—kudos for your persistence!

The flashing white light on your LaserJet M209dwe usually indicates a connection issue.

Let’s try a few additional steps to get it back online:

1. Double-Check Wi-Fi Credentials

Make sure the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password you’re using are correct.

Confirm that your router is broadcasting on the 2.4 GHz band, as many printers, including the LaserJet M209dwe, don’t support 5 GHz networks.

2. Factory Reset the Printer

Turn the printer off.

Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button together, then turn the printer back on while holding the buttons. Release them when the lights start flashing.

After the reset, try reconnecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the HP Smart app.

3. Reinstall HP Smart App

Delete the HP Smart app on your MacBook Pro and reinstall it from the App Store.

Open the app and follow the setup steps for adding your printer.

4. Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

On your router, press the WPS button.

On the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button until it starts blinking. The connection should establish within a couple of minutes.

5. Try an Ethernet Cable (if Possible)

If your router supports it and the printer has an Ethernet port, try temporarily connecting the printer to the router via Ethernet to verify network functionality.

6. Check for Firmware Updates

HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.

Click on the link below for instructions on how to update the firmware of your printer.

7. Test with a Different Device

If you can, try connecting the printer to another device (like a smartphone or tablet). This will help identify whether the issue is specific to your MacBook or the printer itself.
