LaserJet Pro M102w

Printer has been un used for a while and when trying to set it back up it is not recognized by any devices. The ready light flashes green and that is it. It is not seen by HP Smart and when trying an update for the "USB Device" option in the HP Print and Scan Doctor it does not seem to do anything.

From what I have read, I believe I will need to perform a reset on the device and the instructions for doing so can only be provided via private message.

Thank you!

Hi @NI-Logan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Performing a factory reset on the HP LaserJet Pro M102w may help resolve connectivity issues and return the printer to its default settings. Here's a general guide on how to perform a factory reset.

Note: Performing a factory reset will delete any customized settings on the printer, so be sure to note down any important configurations.

  • Turn off the printer: Make sure the printer is turned off.
  • Press and hold the Resume button: Locate the Resume button on the top of the printer. Press and hold this button.
  • Turn on the printer while holding the Resume button: While holding down the Resume button, turn on the printer. Continue holding the Resume button until the Ready light starts flashing, indicating that the printer is in a special mode.
  • Release the Resume button: Once the Ready light is flashing, release the Resume button. The printer should now be in the factory reset mode.
  • Wait for the factory reset to complete: The Ready light will continue flashing during the reset process. Wait for the process to complete, and the Ready light should become steady again.
  • Power cycle the printer: Turn off the printer and then turn it back on to complete the reset process.

After completing these steps, the printer should be restored to its factory settings. You can then attempt to set it up again and check if it is recognized by your devices. If the issue persists, you may want to check for updated firmware or drivers on the HP website and install them. If the problem continues, there may be hardware issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello, I attempted this, and the ready light does not stop flashing green after being released. I have tried this a few times and left it over the weekend flashing with no change. When plugged into my laptop it is seen as an unrecognized device that is an HP LaserJet3020, not the LaserJet Pro M102w that it is.

Thank you!
