Hi all,
I have a 1018 that has seen very little use in the past couple of years. When I attempted to print today, it came out as per the image below. As you can see, there are horizontal smudges that match the circumference of the toner transfer roller, and some 'ghost' print that appears at a distance that matches the circumference of the drum. The word TEST appears just once at the top of the document.
I have tried the cleaning procedure, and dismantled it to check connections and give it a clean.
On this model, the toner cartridge and drum are all one unit. Replacements are relatively inexpensive, but I thought I'd check with the knowledgeable on here before throwing good money after bad!
Many thanks

You have done a good job of trouble shooting, a new cartridge should fix your problem as both defects point to that.

Thanks for the reply trooper. A new 3rd-party cartridge is on it's way, fingers crossed it will sort out the problem.
Being the technically intrigued type, I'd sure like to know what failure mode would lead to excess toner being splattered over the page in this manner. Can drums loose their 'static' ability to attract toner over time?
Thanks
