Hi @BenB5

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your LaserJet 1022 is having trouble processing the second page, and that could be due to a few different factors. Let’s go through some possible solutions to see if we can resolve this issue:

1. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions:

  • A paper jam or obstruction in the printer could be causing it to halt at the second page.
    • Check for any paper stuck in the printer (inside the paper tray, in the toner area, or in the paper path).
    • Open the printer covers and remove any visible paper pieces or debris.
    • After clearing any paper, close the printer, and try printing again.

2. Toner Cartridge Issues:

  • A faulty or incorrectly installed toner cartridge can cause printing interruptions. Try the following:
    • Remove the toner cartridge and shake it gently to redistribute the toner inside. Then reinstall it securely.
    • If you have a spare toner cartridge, try replacing it to see if the issue persists. This will rule out the possibility of a defective cartridge.

3. Printer Driver or Software Problems:

  • Sometimes, a corrupted or outdated printer driver can cause printing issues, especially with certain types of jobs (like images).
    • Update or reinstall the printer drivers. You can find the latest drivers on HP's website or use the built-in Device Manager to check for updates.
    • If you’re printing from a specific program, try printing from a different program (such as Notepad or a different PDF viewer) to see if the issue is program-specific.

4. Printer Settings and Print Queue:

  • Check the print queue on your computer to ensure there are no stalled jobs or errors causing a delay in printing.
    • Open Devices and Printers (or Printers & Scanners in Windows settings), locate your LaserJet 1022, and double-click to open the print queue. If you see any print jobs stuck in the queue, cancel them and try printing again.
    • If you're printing large or complex documents, try reducing the print quality or print in draft mode to see if that helps.

5. Check the Paper Type and Size:

  • Verify that you’re using the correct paper type and size for the document you're printing. If the printer is set to print a specific paper size or type that doesn’t match what’s in the tray, it could cause issues.
    • Make sure the paper in the tray matches the settings in the print dialog on your computer.
    • Ensure the paper is loaded properly and that it’s not too thick, too thin, or improperly aligned.

6. Firmware/Software Update:

  • While the LaserJet 1022 is a pretty simple printer, it might still benefit from a firmware update (though updates are rare for this model).
    • Visit HP’s website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your specific printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
