HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer has functioned flawlessly 2000+ envelopes (plus normal documents). I hand feed each envelope and print from MS Word 365. After printing an envelope, printer cycles a sheet of paper from the paper tray. MS blames HP (of course). When problem started, cartridge was at 30%. I replaced with new CE278A - same problem persists.

Check the condition of the pickup roller. It should be clean with fingerprint like ridges on it. If it is smooth it will need to be replaced. Also ensure that the paper size settings on the printer and the driver match.

I replaced the pick-up roller with new part. Checked paper settings - both printer and Microsoft Word 365 set to plain paper 8-1/2x11. From my Word document, I select Mailings - Envelopes - paste delivery address and press print.  Envelopes prints followed by blank page feed. Until a week ago - I never had a blank page feed.  I've re-installed both Word 365 and the drivers for HP 1536dnf. I did a reset for the printer and installed a new OEM toner cartridge.

Word is ONLY being used to create the envelope. No document is being created. I open word, go directly to Mailings - Envelopes - paste and print.

To confirm, when printing the envelope your a selecting the correct size envelope? It sounds like the printer is expecting letter size and feeds a second page due to the wrong size being detected during printing.

Thank you for offering troubleshooting suggestions. In my further efforts to clear the page feed, today I reinstalled Windows 10 with updates and reinstalled the HP driver. To specifically try to respond to your suggestion - the printer Setup Menu Default was set to letter size, plain paper. None of today's effort cleared the problem. Windows was set to;

    Printer auto select: Letter

    Manual Feed in Tray 1: Letter

    Tray 1: Letter

In MS Word, I set my default envelope size to custom: 6.88 x 4.63. I print envelopes one at a time by pasting the addressee in Word/Envelopes, load the envelope and press print.
