Hi @Alberthall1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 98.00.00 on an HP LaserJet M775 typically indicates an issue related to the hard drive or internal storage. Re-flashing the firmware can sometimes resolve this issue, but it's important to ensure the correct procedure and firmware version are used.

Here are the steps to re-flash the firmware.

Download the Latest Firmware:

  • Visit the HP support website and download the latest firmware for the HP LaserJet M775.

Prepare the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is in a ready state. If it is not, try to get it into a ready state or at least ensure it is powered on and connected to your network or computer.

Use HP Firmware Update Utility:

  • Run the firmware update utility on your computer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to select your printer and start the firmware update process.

Wait for the Update to Complete:

  • Do not turn off the printer or interrupt the process while the firmware is updating. The printer may restart several times during the update.

Verify the Update:

  • Once the update is complete, verify that the firmware version on the printer matches the version you installed.

If re-flashing the firmware does not resolve the issue, the hard drive may need to be replaced. Here’s a brief outline on checking and replacing the HDD.

Check the HDD:

  • Access the printer’s service menu to perform a hard drive check (if available).
  • Alternatively, you can remove the hard drive and test it using a computer.

Replace the HDD (if necessary):

  • If the hard drive is faulty, replace it with a compatible one.
  • After replacing the hard drive, you may need to re-flash the firmware again to ensure the new hard drive is properly initialized.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
