Hello David SMP,

Thank you for all your suggestions.

First, this did not occur after a software or mac os update

I did check the printer settings and I was not able to change anything

It is a USB connection

This is what happened from your suggestions.

I did the hard reset and I had already updated the firmware before I posted here as I thought that might be the issue.

I went to the link for How to Print on Both Sides of the Paper (Mac).  One of the steps says to click Options which does not show up in my Printers and Scanners dialog box.  I assume that means my printer does not support duplex printing, even though it is listed in my layout options.

The last suggestion you gave me gave me a link that did not work, but I don't believe I could have completed the steps anyway because I cannot add my printer as an Apple AirPrint-I do not have that option when adding a printer.

I believe what I can do is print duplex manually from one of the suggestions you sent to me.  It tells me how to use the rear and front loading trays to do this.

My printer is really old, but it still works and I am not interested in buying a new one until this one dies and I am sure that is the reason why some of my capabilities are not there.  I can live without them (manual seems like a lot of work) especially since my printer still works so well.

Thank you so much for all your help.
