I am FURIOUS and would like the DOWNGRADE  private message option too.  I have been through the pages on HP for the last few days which lead to me being told my INK - HP INK Geniune ink was counterfeit by you as there is no hologram.  I have now ordered directly from you for replacement ink and guess what - no hologram.  So its nothing to do with the ink.  Here i am again searching only to discover this feed (and others) that its the FIRMWARE  that seems to have caused a fault with everyone printer.  I am soooooooo  ANGRY right now.  I have fallen behind on things i need to do.  I really need rid of this update - urgently please.

Firmware Version EDWINXPP1N002.1942A.00

Same thing here, with exact same firmware version.

Really HP, you should be ashamed.

When I chatted with a service rep the person said, "oh well," and then then told me to trash all my ink and buy OEM.  This is not a joke.  I am furious.

It is a company's decision, contacting support as u relized is useless. Hp itself has to change its mind.

I got the same update of yours recently EDWINXPP1N002.1942A.00 and fixes nothing.

I found a NON OEM ink that works with 1942 on a 7740--IKONG.  Try them.  The rest--KOGAIN and VALUE TONER do not work yet as they have not updated their chips.  There is another company, LX I think, that I am not sure works yet.   I may try them out.

The OEM ink all works great, of course.

Glad to hear that. There is a good chance that 3rd party ink manufacturers will update their chips soon, but the issue itself remains, and Hp did nothing to help. Thanks for sharing.

By the way, I looked for the ikong 953xl on the Italian Amazon, but I could not find them. If u wanna share a link to the item u purchased it would be a plus.

Thanks.

I am shopping in the USA.  And I bought the 952XL pack, not the 953 as those do not work in the 7740.  The 956 cartridges also work in the 7740.  Try a search for the 952 and see that you get.  Also, try searching for HP 7740 INK and it should bring up a bunch of options.  If you do not see IKONG try another brand, BUT email them to ask first.  I emailed IKONG before I ordered to seek assurance theirs would work with the 1942 firmware upgrade.  They said it would, and they were right.

953 work too on the 7740. Anyway let's wait for hp.

Searched for the 952 from ikong; same result. Anyway i contacted another vendor that told me their cartridges work. Ordered them, waiting for the delivery.

Well, after contacting HP Support US, UK, France, Belgium, Germany, I had the same answer from every single one of them: I have to use HP Cartridges in order to print with an HP printer. I´m sorry HP but this is just annoying and totally not acceptable. They also say that there is no possibility to downgrade the firmware...not true.

I have just downloaded the "1849A version", installed it and voila ... I can print again.

So, what a waste of time talking to HP Support.

how were you able to install the older firmware? mine REFUSES to install it and i am stuck with the s-h-i-t-t-y 1910 that is ruining my life and making me lose work and extra money. if i don't find a solution, i am going to throw away my printer, which cost me a bundle when i bought it, with all the cartridges, which also cost me a lot, and switching to epson or canon tank printers. not even gonna consider hp tank printers! this is the second time they play the dirty firmware game.
