The amber information light on my printer is permanently on. The printer still prints so why would this be?

@Shadylady3,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!

Information button () is usually used to print information related to your printer.

Please push the Information button (). The printer would print a report that would have the details as to why the light is on.

Also, perform a power reset. Follow the steps below:

  • Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

Let me know what happens.

Light still on.  As I said it doesn’t seem to affect the printing but it must mean something surely!

@Shadylady3,

Let's try updating the printer firmware. It may fix the issue.
