A lightning bolt knocked out my printer (was plugged into a surge protector) and it will not work at all.  A message on the screen says: 0005FBB6.  This message will not go off unless I unplug the printer and it comes back on when I plug it back in. I just want to know if it is ruined or if there is some way to reset, etc and it will be usable again.  It is a great printer and I have really enjoyed using it.  Also, if it can not be fixed, how can I get a new XL black cartridge out of it? The carriage won't move.  thanks for any help.

the surge of electricity either fried the power brick or a boad in the printer.  if you have another power brick to try, i'd start there.  If that doesnt work, the printer is not worth trying to fix.  i'm not sure if you could remove the ink while its in an error state.  best bet would be to power it up, let the error code flash and then open the ink access door.  even if the carriage assembly doesnt move, see if you can manually position it enough to extract the cartridge.  If it feels like you're having to force it, stop.  carriage is probably locked into place with the ink well system.
