I have the same issue with my HP Envy photo 7858, I have powered it off, I have checked for paper jams, I have removed and reinstalled ink cartridges,  I have tried to download firmware manually through it USB port And several other remedies that have not worked. I can’t even get my computer to recognize that the printer is even there, it says it’s off-line. Does anybody know how to do a hard reset on the printer itself? It seems that is the way to truly fix this printer. But I have no idea how to do a reset on this printer without it being connected to the computer, but my computer is not recognizing that it’s even plugged into it. My wife is having surgery tomorrow and I desperately need this printer to work, if not I need to go buy a new one. Thank you for anybody’s assistance With this issue.

Hi @RoberttM,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your HP Envy Photo 7858 printer. Here's a step-by-step guide to performing a hard reset on your printer, which might help resolve the issue:

Hard Reset for HP Envy Photo 7858 Printer

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Make sure the printer is completely turned off. Disconnect it from the power source.

Disconnect All Cables:

  • Unplug all cables, including the power cord and any USB cables connected to the printer. Leave the printer disconnected for at least 60 seconds.

Reconnect the Power Cable:

  • Plug the power cable back into the printer and the power outlet.

Turn On the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn on the printer.

Wait for Initialization:

  • Allow the printer to go through its initial startup process. This can take a few minutes.

Check for Errors:

  • If the printer starts up successfully, check the display for any error messages. If it still shows a loading screen or any error, proceed to the next steps.

Final Option: Factory Reset

If none of the above steps work, you may need to perform a factory reset on your printer. This will restore the printer to its original settings, which can sometimes resolve persistent issues.

To perform a factory reset:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to the "Setup" menu and look for "Service" or "Support."
  • Look for an option to reset the printer or restore factory defaults. This option might be under "Printer Maintenance" or similar headings.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
