I just bought this M140w printer, and the print quality is good. Only thing is, it will often cut off the last half page to page and a half of a print job.
I printed out multiple copies of some IRS forms (using acrobat reader - both in-browser and standalone) and the last copy (even if I only print one copy) will often skip the last page entirely and "finish" printing in the middle of the next-to-last or last page. It does this with no consistency between tries, as concerns where on the page it stops. See examples.
It appears to be a software problem, where the processor (either in the printer or my desktop computer) gets confused as to when to stop printing.
Both of these examples came from print jobs where I printed at least 2 copies of a form, but it can do the same even when printing one copy.
The top example shows form 8888 stopped printing on page 2 of 3.
The bottom example shows form 1040-V stopped printing on the last page.
No PDF I've tried printing so far prints fully if I try to print multiple copies.
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, were you able to fix it?
I'm using high-quality laser printing paper. I know it looks like an issue where a sheet got double-fed and blocked the bottom of the sheet but I assure you that is not what happened.

I am going to guess as I have seen things like this before but a long time ago.
Your M140w has 64mb of memory. That is not much. Possibly the app is downloading the fonts into the printer or having the printer convert from PDF to its internal PCL language..
See if the app can construct the page first and then send it to the printer. Make sure the app uses Arial font which is native to windows and acceptable to IRS. The print job should be native PCL and not PDF. Do not save a report as a pdf file and then try to print the pdf file.
Make sure you have firmware 20240813

That would make sense if the same page didn't print just fine previously. This can happen even on a single page print. And it will only happen on the last or next-to-last page of an 11-page print job. That is, if I print multiple copies of an 11-page document, it will print all pages just fine until the last couple of pages, then stumble and quit. It feeds the paper through just fine, at least.

Possibly there is a problem with the app assembling the pages. if no one else reports the problem then the printer driver must be causing it.
Print the 11 page document to a pdf file
Try PDF checker to see if the document is valid. I've used it before
There is also preflight but I have not used it and it just shown up when I was looking for how to validate a PDF file.
If the PDF fails to print properly, copy it to a flash drive and try another printer (fedex ups etc)
If it prints OK then a problem with the printer. make a warranty claim.
If both printer come out bad then check with the tax app.
At one time intuit tax software was not running on windows 11. I had read they were hiring lawyers instead of programmers. Hopefully that lawsuit is behind them.

I downloaded pdf checker, but due to limited home time (OTR truck driver) I didn't get a chance to read the documentation. Apparently there's no GUI, and they make you hand over your email address for a free trial.
However, I haven't had any problem printing from LibreOffice Writer, so I'm suspecting it may have something to do with the PS/PCL thing you mentioned. Dunno why HP keeps trying to force the PCL meme. It was a problem 20 years ago, and it's still a problem.
