- M283fdw (Product 7KW75A) Error 79 after new toners

Hi,
I have a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw (Product 7KW75A) which has been working fine for just over 2 years printing and scanning and hasn't missed a beat. Today I have installed new toners and now when I go to print, and periodically, the printer restarts with an Error 79 message.
The toners I have are genuine HP toners that I bought from Amazon UK. There seemed to be no fitting issues between removing the old toner and installing the new ones. The printer flashed up a message that genuine toners were detected. Also the printer status web page shows that they are genuine cartridges. There was no damage to the outer box the toners were sent in and there seems to be no damage to the toner boxes, carriers or toner cartridges themselves.
So far I have tried HP Support Assistant which has not detected any errors. I tried changing out the black toner for the old empty one, but after calibrating it reboots with the Error 79 message. I've tried turning it on an off again a number of time and also removing the power for 5 minutes from the plug twice but still this Error 79 message persists and I can't print.
Is there a way to force it to print or recalibrate. It might not have done it correctly the first time. The printer seems to make it's usually clunking and whirring noises when it starts up so I don't think there is anything wrong with the toners or fitment.
Should I removed the toners and give them a shake? Are there any other things I can try?
I did buy the 2 year extended warranty but that ran out in September. Bit miffed I have to replace the printer as I've just opened near £400 of toner.
Thanks in advance, Al

I turned the printer off again for 5 minutes then when it powered back on I reset the settings. Then I was able to print a test page and it worked fine. Just annoying that I have to enter all the scan-to-email settings again.

Hi @albal21,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error 79 on an HP printer typically indicates a firmware error. It can be caused by a variety of issues, including problems with print jobs, corrupted data, or incompatible software. In your case, it seems to have occurred after replacing the toner cartridges.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the Error 79 on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw.
Power Cycle:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer and wait for about 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cable and turn on the printer.
Print a Configuration Page:
- Print a configuration page from the printer's control panel or the embedded web server to check if the error persists.
Remove External Devices:
- Disconnect any external devices such as USB drives or memory cards from the printer and see if the error persists.
Clear Print Queue:
- On your computer, cancel any pending print jobs in the print queue.
- Turn off the printer.
- Turn it back on and try printing a simple document to see if the error is resolved.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. If there is, update the firmware following the provided instructions.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Ensure that there are no conflicting print jobs or incompatible software on your computer. Remove any recently installed software that may be causing the issue.
Remove and Reinstall Toner Cartridges:
- Turn off the printer and remove all toner cartridges.
- Carefully reinstall each toner cartridge, making sure they are securely seated.
- Turn on the printer and check for the error.
Avoid shaking the toner cartridges vigorously, as this may cause toner spillage and damage the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
