Our M29w printer takes 3-6 attempts on its own to try to print an entire document. We both use HP TouchSmart 520 PC on Windows 10. We have installed/uninstalled/installed, did a hard reboot, reseated the ink cartridge, and the trouble shooter says everything is fine. We are wasting a lot of paper and time.

@2307GK, Welcome to HP Support Community!
To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:
- Are you able to make photocopies on the printer?
- How is the printer connected to the computer?
- Which application are you trying to print from?
Keep me posted for further assistance.

I have tried making a copy once with success. BOTH of our computers are HP running on Windows 10 and the printer is connected wirelessly. We have downloaded the drivers numerous times. The printer will work some times but mostly it fails. As you can see I tried ONCE to print a recipe but the printer provided 5 unusable copies. We mostly need documents printed from Microsoft Word.

I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.
• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.
Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help
Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Well, it worked for one day. Then the next morning, back to square one with it partially printing a Word document 5 times. I've been so annoyed I waited until today to work on it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, downloaded every software, firmware, and driver HP and Windows offered, and reseated the ink cartridge. It now prints BUT it took almost 5 full minutes for 3 pages of a PDF document to print. The printer makes a chirping noise as it plugs along. How long this "fix" will last is yet to be seen. My husband has the same issue from his computer.

I'd suggest you follow steps 2 and 3 from the document HP Printers - Slow Printing (Windows) to further resolve the issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

It was suggested to off "Quiet Mode" on Laser M29W printer to speed up printing but this printer does not have a Quiet Mode option............or it is so well hidden, you can't find it. I've been in every folder and tab the HP Smart app and HP Printer Assistant has have not found any reference to this.

Print self-test pages to check the speed-
The Configuration Report lists important information such as the supplies summary, page counts, and copy settings.
-
Turn on the printer.
-
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Start Copy button
, and then release it when the Ready light
blinks.
The Configuration Report and Network Summary (wireless models only) print.
If that has similar issues, we can reset the printer.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Hope this helps!
