To upgrade the firmware on the M452dn DC Controller Board, the easiest way is to mount the engine controller board on an M477fdw printer, since the M452dn does not recognize the USB file DCCV1_51.prn, the only option is Filezilla or CMD, which is a little more complicated for people who do not have programming knowledge, when you mount the M452dn board in the M477 printer it will give you the paper jam error, but it does not matter, continue the upgrade process, it worked for me until the 2nd attempt, It will give not give you a positive confirmation, only the printer will restart, and will show the paper jam message again, disconnect the board and mount the board back in the M452dn, print the configuration page and the new firmware will appear there, When you mount the M452dn printer board on the M477fdw, the M477fdw does not have the connections, J129,J127,J128,J134,J130,J102,J103, ignore that.

That is an interesting comment, however if one cannot follow the FTP instructions to upgrade, they likely are not of a skill level to start swapping boards around safely either. The FTP method is not complicated and is well documented in the user guide to applying the engine controller update. Plus, most people with a 452DN are unlikely to have a 477 kicking around either.

I have the pdf with the original instructions, and also the file, but I had not seen the instructions, with METHOD 2 and METHOD 3, I have another 2nd printer coming to me with the same problem, the same model, I am going to try to repair it with method 2 and 3, with the other instructions we have repaired quite a few M477fdw, but it is the first time M452dn with this problem that brings me to repair, and the other 2nd one that comes on Monday, which seems strange to me, that HP only gave us the original instructions with the file, but METHOD 2 and 3 are not included, and after searching Google extensively, the only thing I found was that people had used fielzilla and CMD to fix this particular printer, but none of these METHOD 2 and 3 appear in the Google or HP search, on Monday I am going to try with this other printer with the same problem using that METHOD 2 and 3. And if you are absolutely right, not everyone has an M477fdw to do what I did it here, but I do have about 20 units here, that's why I tried that, since I couldn't find anything in the Google search, until you sent this important information, thank you.

@Jacob1166 The 59.F0 error is caused by a glitch in the older engine controller firmware which is different from the firmware normally downloaded and installed from the website which will not fix this issue. The dropbox link I provided has the instructions and firmware file required.
