HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M555x
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an M555 color LaserJet (Model: 7ZU79A)  just 3 months out of warranty and I suspect the formatter board is bad.  It takes forever to print something, even reports generated from the touchpanel.   Also, the embedded web server doesn't work, and the touch-panel menu is buggy and sluggish.

Steps I've taken

  • Factory reset (didn't fix)
  • Diagnostic from Admin Menu (everything passed)
  • Reloaded firmware from USB (without wiping, didn't fix)
  • Wipe/Unlock from Admin Menu then reloaded the firmware from USB (still didn't fix)

I've come to the conclusion that the formatter board needs to be replaced, however I can't find the replacement board on HP's website.

The part number is 1PV87-60006 but it isn't listed in the on the HP parts website.   Any idea how to get genuine HP parts that aren't on the parts website, or something else to try to get it to work?

There are other things I would try before replacing the formatter. First, I would suggest that you run the hardware diagnostics from the pre-boot menu which you have already done. As there were no problems I would format the harddrive and then  install current FS5 firmware. Simply upgrading the firmware without a format can sometimes just allow faults to continue. Also make sure that Windows has not hijacked your printer and installed the Microsoft IPP driver which just kills performance.
